Shibayama Sadatoyo (芝山定豊)

Sadatoyo SHIBAYAMA (May 23, 1638 - June 1, 1707) was a court noble who lived in the Edo period.

He was the second head of the Shibayama family, a Tosho-ke (the hereditary lineage of Court nobles occupying relatively high ranks) (the family ranked as Meike (an important family), and belonged to the Kanshuji branch of the Takafuji line of the Northern House of the Fujiwara clan).

His personal history

He was a biological child of Nobutoyo SHIBAYAMA who assumed the position of Gon Dainagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state). Hirotoyo SHIBAYAMA (the second son of Suesuke YOTSUTSUJI who assumed the position of Sachujo (Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards)) who assumed the position of Sangi (councilor) was his adopted son. Nobusuke SHIBAYAMA (a samurai who worked for the Owari Domain), Fusatoyo ABE (a samurai who worked for the Yunagaya Domain) and Zuijun CHOTOKUIN (a court physician and a hatamoto (a direct vassal of the shogun) were his younger brothers.

He was awarded the rank of Junii (Junior Second Rank) and assumed the position of Gon Chunagon.
